Com'รจ noto, Faustina Figlia era molto affascinata dai gladiatori e si racconta nell'Historia Augusta che fosse solita frequentarli. Infatti secondo la tradizione Commodo sarebbe stato figlio di un gladiatore o forse sarebbe stato compcepito da Faustina e da Marco Aurelio dopo avere fatto un bagno nel sangue di un gladiatore appena ucciso.
