Issued in 1921 to mark the restoration of the ancient Diocese of Meissen, originally founded in 967 and suppressed in the 16th century during the Reformation. The medal, made in the famous Meissen ceramic tradition, evokes the continuity of faith, with Saint Benno—the patron saint of Meissen—invoked as intercessor.
