MARBLE FRAGMENT
Roman period, c. 2nd - 3rd century AD.
Marble fragment, probably pertaining to a funerary stele. The deceased, wrapped in a toga that leaves his chest exposed, is depicted lying on his left side and resting on his left elbow. In his left hand he holds a container, from which liquid is leaking. On his right is represented what appears to be a crouching dog.
Dimensions: 260 x 180 x 155 mm. Beautiful item. Missing parts.
