The person mentioned on the reverse side of this coin was an agonothetes. These magistrates were the organizers of the agones. The agonothetes were responsible for all the practical organization of the competitions, from the administration of the funds allocated. They had the task of giving the starting signal for each competition, deciding on the fines to be imposed on unfair competitors and making arrangements for the coronation and celebrations of the winners.
