RIC 440.

During Commodus' reign in Britain, there was a serious invasion by northern peoples, who crossed the wall built by Antoninus Pius after the campaign led by the legate Q. Lollius Urbicus. The Roman army and a senior general were massacred. The legate Ulpius Marcellus was then sent, who avenged the disaster and earned Commodus the nickname Britannicus (AD 184). However, this victory did not put an end to the problems in the region, as shortly afterwards there was an uprising of troops, which was severely suppressed by P. Elvius Pertinax as legate (185-187).
