India Mohur AH 115x year 23. R1. KM-438.15; Emperor: Muhammad Shah (1719-1748); Gold, 10.73 g; Lahore; Struck one year after the Afsharid Nadir Shah's brief occupation of Lahore, restored to the Mughals in 1739, scratch on obverse and tiny scrape on reverse rim, XF, R. Struck during the governorship of Zakariya Khan at Lahore (1726-1745); Originally confirmed by Muhammad Shah, his role was also approved by Nadir Shah, and retained by the Mughals after Nadir Shah's return to Iran, in what was either late in Muhammad Shah's regnal year 22 or very early in year 23; There is a symbol resembling a horseshoe above the first letter of the word "ghazi" on the obverse. It is also known above the central word "shah" on the obverse of a mohur dated AH1156 year 26 (Zeno-146457); We have not observed the symbol on any common silver rupee of Muhammad Shah, and there is at present no reason to associate the horseshoe with Zakariya Khan; XF.
