Obverse: High-relief frontal elevation of the Mother Cathedral of Holy Etchmiadzin, central conical dome surmounted by a cross and flanked by two bell-towers; upper-left field carries the circular emblem of the Mother See (patriarchal mitre above shield charged with an Armenian cross, set over crossed crozier and sword); upper-right field bears the inscription «ՄԱՅՐ ԱԹՈՌ ՍԲ ԷՋՄԻԱԾԻՆ» (“Mother Cathedral of St Etchmiadzin”); ground-line formed by two recessed diagonal strokes that meet in a triangular exergue; plain raised border. Reverse: Large anniversary numeral «1700» at top, the inner spaces of the zeros containing the dates «301» (left) and «2001» (right); immediately below, calligraphic inscription «ՀԱՅՈՑ ԴԱՐՁԸ» (“Conversion of the Armenians”); lower half shows the elaborately carved reliquary-chest for the Holy Chrism of Etchmiadzin, surmounted by an ornate processional cross emerging from an interlaced vegetal frieze; a two-line inscription is engraved on the face of the chest, but the characters are worn and now illegible; plain raised border encircles the design.
