LEAD ASTRAGALUS-SHAPED GAMING PIECE
Roman Empire, 1st–3rd century AD.

Cast lead object in the form of an astragalus (knucklebone), imitating the natural shape used in antiquity for gaming and divination. Artificial examples in lead are known and were likely produced for repeated use or as substitutes for real bone.

The surface shows encrustations and wear consistent with age.
