Laureate bust right, showing bare chest, slight drapery / Concordia seated left, holding patera and resting arm on statuette of Spes set on low base; cornucopia below throne. RIC II.3 79; RSC 251a. aEF. This scarce early denarius shows Hadrian presenting himself as a careful restorer of harmony after Trajan's expansive wars. Concordia seated with Spes at her side turns the coin into a quiet promise that the new emperor would balance Rome's power with stability, hope and internal unity across the empire.
