Because written historical sources are limited and often say little about money, the book relies heavily on archaeological evidence, combining the study of coins with contemporary documentary material excavated from sites across Eastern Central Asia. Carefully arranged in four parts, it sets out the historical background, examines the numismatic evidence, reviews the documentary record, and then brings the material together into a new framework for understanding money in the region. A very attractive copy, about new overall, clean, fresh, and very well kept.
