Unofficial Star Series. AE Quadrans, c. 169-25 BC (?). D/ Head of Hercules right, wearing lion's skin; behind, three pellets. R/ ROMA. Prow right; before, eight rayed star; below, three pellets. RBW 845; Cr. 196/4. AE. 5.05 g. 20 mm. R. VF. These quadrantes display a reduced weight compared to the first series, Cr. 113. Although, on the basis of weight, one might be tempted to attribute them to the Cr. 196 series, we consider it more appropriate to associate them stylistically with the earlier issue, regarding them as part of a parallel and probably unofficial emission.
