HN Italy 660; SNG ANS 694; SNG Cop. 643; HGC 1 581. 7.62 g. 23.5 mm. RR. Very rare. Brown patina; reverse slightly off-centre. About VF. As noted by Rutter in HN, the male head on the obverse is thought by some to be a portrait of Scipio Africanus, who sought refuge at Canusium in 216 BC, but this is unsubstantiated.
