Shield inscribed [OB CIVES SER] in three lines within oak-wreath supported by two capricorns; below, globe. R/ TI CAE[SAR DIVI] AVG F AVGVST P M TR POT XXXVII. Legend surrounding large S C. c/m NCAPR within rectangular incuse. Pangerl 1a (for countermark); RIC I (2nd ed.) (Tib.) 63 (for undertype). AE. 24.23 g. 35 mm. The counterstamp has been said to mean N(ummus) C(aesare) A(ugusto) PR(obatus) and to be of Flavian date, or to have been applied by the successor of Claudius and to mean N(ero) C(aesar) A(ugustus) PR(obavit). Another proposed solution reads N(eronis) C(aesaris) A(ugusti) P(opulique) R(omani). F.
