GROUP OF BRONZE RINGS (“RING MONEY” TYPE HOARD)
Celtic World, 1st millennium BC.
Group of approximately ninety (90) small bronze rings, originally forming an accumulation rather than a finished ornament. Such rings are frequently encountered in Celtic contexts of the 1st millennium BC and are often interpreted as proto-currency, metal stock, or elements intended for further use in composite objects.
The rings vary slightly in size and thickness and show typical surface wear and patination. The present grouping reflects a deposited or collected assemblage rather than an articulated necklace.
