TERRACOTTA OIL LAMP.
Byzantine, circa 6th - 10th century AD.
A simple molded oil lamp composed of a piriform body with a large central hole, a nozzle with a wide filler mouth and a raised tall handle or reflector, which extends from the back of the lamp, and is decorated with ridges.
Dimensions: 116.5 x 59.5 mm. 83.64 g. Significant wear and weathered but intact. Blackening at the wick from use.
