Despite this, Sabina was deified, as evidenced by several coin types in which the ustrinum appears. For the Romans, the ustrinum was a special place, located near necropoleis and columbaria, where relatives burned the bodies of their loved ones and then collected the charred remains in marble urns or clay vessels, which they deposited in the nearby tomb. In this process they were assisted by specialists known as ustores.
