Britannicus, son of Claudius and Messalina (died 55 AD). AE 'Sestertius'. Later fabrication, most likely 19th or 20th century. Obv. TI CLAVDIVS CAESAR AVG F BRITANNICVS. Bare-headed, draped bust right. Rev. S-C. Mars advancing left, holding spear and shield. Cf. RIC I p. 130, note; cf. BMC RE (Claud.) 226. AE. 17.57 g. 33 mm. An attractive and interesting example.
