Augustus (27 BC - 14 AD) . AR Denarius, Italian (Rome?) mint. Obv. Victory, draped, standing right on prow, holding palm frond over left shoulder in left hand and wreath in extended right hand. Rev. Octavian driving triumphal quadriga right, the car ornamented with figures on its front and side panels, holding reins in left hand and branch in right; IMP CAESAR in exergue. RIC I (2nd ed.) 264; C. 115. AR. 3.88 g. 23 mm. Choice and lightly toned, struck on broad flan. Obverse slightly off center. Good VF/About EF. This coin commemorates Octavian’s fresh victory at Actium. The obverse, showing Victory standing on a prow, is reminiscent of the type featured on the coins of Demetrius Poliorcetes, and reflects the manner of Octavian’s victory. The reverse displays Octavian as the victor, involved in the triumphal procession in Rome, which wended its way from the Forum to the Temple of Jupiter Optimus Maximus. This victory, however, was portrayed as being over the foreign queen Cleopatra, rather than Antony and those Romans who supported him. (Triton XI, 2008, 649 note).

EF. The stroke of diplomacy by which in 20 BC Augustus induced Phraates to return the standards which the Parthians had on three different occasions captured from Roman armies was one of achievements of which he was most proud.[...] The three armies defeated by the Parthians were those commanded by Crassus (in 53), and by the legates of M. Antonius, - L. Decidius Saxa in 40, and Oppius Statianus in 36. (G.F. Hill, Historical Roman Coins, p.139-40).

Augustus (27 BC - 14 AD). AE 27 mm. Asia Minor, uncertain mint, c. 30 BC(?). Obv. Bare head right. Rev. Fiscus, sella quaestoria and hasta; Q below. RPC I 5409. AE. 21.98 g. 27.5 mm. Solid dark patina. About VF. This issue has previously been attributed to a Macedonian mint with the portrait identified either as Brutus (Friedlander), Caesar (Grant), or to the governor of Syria, Gaius Sosius (in the trade). RPC presents a case for an origin in northern Turkey, supported by find data, with a suggestion that the portrait is Octavian. Issues of similar portrait style, very likely by the same engraver, include the 'Princeps Felix' coinage from Cilicia (RPC 4082-3).

RIC II-p. 1 (2nd ed.) (Titus) 388. AR. 3.31 g. 21 mm. R. Rare. An good example, well centred and struck on broad flan. Delicate tone. VF. Though Julia was an Augusta, she was secondary in importance to Domitia, the wife of her uncle Domitian, who was then the reigning emperor. None the less, the future was brimming with hope for Julia, a woman who has come down to us in the historical tradition as less than scrupulous. She was young enough to hope for an elevation from her position of honor to one of actual authority, especially since she was having a secret affair with her uncle Domitian, who was childless and in a difficult marriage. In 83 Julia’s prospects brightened considerably: Domitian exiled his wife and Julia could pursue her affair with Domitian more completely by living with him in the palace. This did not bode well for Julia’s unfortunate husband, her second cousin Flavius Sabinus, who Domitian soon executed on an invented charge. The incestuous couple shared their lives until 90 or 91, when Julia died of a failed abortion attempt. (NAC 33, 461 note).
