The head of Kore is beautifully rendered, and the charioteer's details are masterfully executed. These Siculo-Punic tetradrachms from Panormus closely resemble those from Syracuse, with meticulous attention to detail. Some pieces are inspired by Eumenes' works, replicating his style and even his signature. Indeed this tetradrachm, considered one of the finest examples of Siculo-Punic coinage, echoes Euainetos' decadrachms. While some elements, like the star before the chariot, are unique, others, such as the swastika, likely derive from Syracusan prototypes. As the series progresses, it adopts a more modernistic style, particularly evident in the treatment of Artemis-Arethusa, reflecting influences from Agathokles' coinage. Despite these adaptations, the chariot remains on the obverse, distinguishing the Panormus issues from Agathoklean coins.

Of particular interest is the focus on Arethusa's hairstyle, with a variety of intricate styles depicted on post-Demareteion tetradrachms. Leukaspis, depicted as a naked warrior with helmet, shield and spear, was a Lycian hero who fought in the Trojan War in the following of King Sarpedon against the Greeks. When the city fell, the surviving Lycians joined Aeneas in fleeing to the Mediterranean, but a great storm hit the fleet. In Virgil's Aeneid, when Aeneas descended into the underworld under the lead of the Sibyl, he saw the spirit of Leucaspis, forced to remain outside and excluded due to death at sea and the lack of burial.

Despite attempts to resist, Syracuse suffered defeats, including the sack of Gela and Kamarina. This emergency coinage, celebrating Athena, funded mercenary armies in the futile struggle. Signed by the master engraver 'IM...', this coin embodies the desperation of Greek Sicily against the Carthaginian onslaught, with gold used sparingly for essential expenses in a time of turmoil. These observations are supported by sources such as Fischer-Bossert, Coins [Tudeer] 67, which analyzes coins signed by the engraver 'IM...', and other specialized studies on Sicilian numismatics of the period.

Pyrrhus was a king of Epirus and one of the most famous military commanders of antiquity. He is primarily known for his campaigns in Italy against the Romans and his warfare tactics that influenced many subsequent commanders. His presence in Sicily is significant as he was involved in the struggles for control of the island during the period when this coin was minted in Syracuse. The coin itself reflects the importance of Sicily as a center of conflict and trade in the western Mediterranean during that time.
