778 - France. Charles I Gonzaga Nevers (1627-1637). AE Liard, Charleville mint, 1614. PdA 6153. AE. 4.19 g. 24 mm. Attractive light brown patina. Charles I Gonzaga was Duke of Mantua and Duke of Montferrat from 1627 until his death in 1637. He was also Charles III as Duke of Nevers and Rethel, as well as Prince of Arche and Charleville. In 1606, he decided the foundation of Charleville and the Principality of Arches. He became 1st Prince of Arche and Charleville.

Albert of Brandenburg-Ansbach was the last Grand Master of the Teutonic Order. He converted 1525 to Protestantism and founded the Duchy Prussia in the territories of the Order.

Made by the company Mayer&Wilhelm. The company was founded as a die sinking establishment in 1860 by Wilhelm Mayer who was a sculptor and engraver. In 1876 his brother in law Frantz Wilhelm joined the firm. Often appears on medals as M. & W. like on this one. The company is still in operation under the name Stuttgarter Metallwarenfabrik.

792 - Germany. Tin Wall Plaque, 1950s, Württembergische Metallwarenfabrik (WMF). For Honeymoon. Obv. DIE HOCHZEITSREISE. Scene of the newly-weds embarking on their honeymoon. Rev. Incuse of the obverse; emblem of the maker: an angel surrounded by MADE IN W. GERMANY. Tin. 149 g. 137 mm. A rare collector's item. Diameter including the original suspension loop. Diameter without the loop is 125 mm. Good VF. This wall plaques were a popular decor in the 1950s in West-Germany. There are several series recorded, usually four pieces around a theme. They were hanged by a broad embroidered or elaborately woven ribbon.

Female figure with attributions of several ancient deities and personifications advancing right on platform; to feet, big globe. Rev. TRAGE MICH STETS BEI DIR UND VERLIERE MICH NICHT. The zodiac signs around a central round deepening (which was designed to hold an aluminium token with the zodiac sign of the bearer). AE. 27.12 g. 40 mm. VF. The legend on the reverse means: Carry me always with you and don't loose me.
