Unusually Preserved Manlia Scantilla


Manlia Scantilla, wife of Didius Julianus (died 193 AD.). AE Sestertius, Rome mint, 193 AD. Obv. MANLIA SCANTILLA AVG. Draped bust right, hair coiled on back of the head. Rev. [IV]NO REGINA SC. Juno standing facing, head left, holding patera and sceptre; at her feet, left, peacock. RIC IV (Did. Jul.) 18; C. 6. 22.11 g. 30.5 mm. RR. Very rare and fully readeable obverse. Delicate tone. Metal flaw on obverse. VF.
