Petillius Capitolinus. Denarius. Rome. 43 BC (Silver, 18.45 mm, 3.61 g). PETILLIVS - CAPITOLINVS, Eagle standing front on thunderbolt, wings spread and head right. Rev. S - F, Temple of Jupiter Capitolinus with figures on the roof and the architrave; between central four columns, garlands hanging. Crawford 487/2b. Babelon (Petillia) 3. Sydenham 1151. RBW 1706. Pleasing iridescent cabinet tone. Well-centered specimen. Minimal flattening on the eagle's chest and insignificant area of porosity on the reverse. However, almost as struck.
