Splendid and rare drachm issued in the fateful Sothic year 138 - 139 AD corresponding to the second year of Antoninus Pius’ Egyptian reign. On the obverse, a masterful nude bust of the emperor, engraved by a great artist who was probably also the author of the complex and sharp scene on the reverse. Here aboard a monumental trireme sailing left, is depicted a dominant "Alexandrian triad": in the centre Zeus Serapis enthroned, in front Demeter to the left and Tyche of Alexandria on the right. A museum-worthy specimen, specially chosen and illustrated by Giovanni Dattari for his renowned collection.
