Magnificent tetradrachm of the famous "Roman series", almost a pied-ford of wide size with high sculptural relief engraved figures and with a preservation, rarely found, too. Admirable and delicate the bust-portrait of Severus Alexander on the obverse. The bust of Zeus Serapis dominates the reverse in a distinctly Roman-Hellenistic style, accentuated by the minimization of the kalathos on the head. Coin with all its charisms deriving from its origin in the famous collection of Dr. Hans Steger at the auction n. 6 of the Münzhandlung Basel, won by his great and late friend Herbert Cahn in Basel on 18.03. 1936, lot 1076.
