Tetradrachm of excellent preservation and noteworthy iconographic value for the realistic iconographic likeness of the portrait of Maximian on the obverse. The reverse shows here, as on other tetradrachms of the sovereign of this collection, the figure of Heracles in various poses as iconographic confirmation of the synonym ‘Herculean’ attributed to him as ‘secundus inter pares’ behind the undisputed overriding charm of his colleague Diocletian Jovius.
