The reverse mentions Lucius (Nonius) Asprenas, who could be the consul of 6 AD or, more likely, his son, who held the consulship in 29 AD. The latter was involved, along with the Legio III Augusta, in the construction of a road in Tacape, Africa. The same Asprenas also served as Curator locorum publicorum iudicandorum (Curator of Public Land Disputes), being part of a special commission tasked with resolving boundary conflicts between public and private property. It is possible that this tessera was issued to commemorate a celebration related to the recovery of private land for public use. A similar event is also attested by several inscriptions found in various areas of Rome (CIL 06, 01267a-b, 31573-4, 37037), dated between AD 15 and 24.
