Sicily. Syracuse. Tetradrachm struck under the Deinomenid tyranny, possibly during the reign of Hieron I. Circa 475-470 BC (Silver, 26.14 mm, 17.47 g). Charioteer driving slow quadriga right, holding kentron and reins; above, Nike flying right, crowning horses. Rev. ΣVR - AKO - ΣΙΟ - Ν, Diademed head of Arethusa right; four dolphins around. Boehringer 300 (V143/R208). Boston, MFA 353. Buceti 173a. HGC 2, 1307. Lightly toned. Struck in high relief and perfectly centered. Minor metal peeling on obverse. Good Extremely Fine.
