Sicily. Syracuse. Tetradrachm struck under the second democracy. Circa 415-405 BC (Silver, 25.32 mm, 17.15 g). Charioteer driving fast quadriga pracing left, holding kentron and reins; above, Nike flying right, crowning him; in exergue, EVMHNOY. Rev. SYPAKOΣIOΣ, Head of Arethusa left, hair looped up into a roll at the back and rolled in a large band on the forehead; on a diptych below, EVKΛ / EIΔA; four dolphins around. Boston 55, 402 (same dies). Fischer-Bossert, CAT 131, 24 (same). SNG ANS 259 (same). Tudeer 18, 24 (same). Warren 372 (same). HGC 2, 1328. Well toned. Minor peeling on obverse.
