Domitius Domitianus took power for a short time in Egypt (296-297), during the reign of Diocletian. Nothing is known of his origins; he probably served as prefect before the rebellion, which was caused by an imperial edict worsening fiscal conditions in the region. Domitianus died in December 297, when Diocletian traveled to Egypt to deal with the revolt. Ex Ariminum Collection
