Royal Masonic Benevolent Institution Jewel, Sterling Silver and Enamel, 1937 (34.49 mm, 21.24 g).
A finely made jewel of the Royal Masonic Benevolent Institution (R.M.B.I.), comprising a crimson ribbed ribbon with gilt metal suspension bar enamelled R.M.B.I. and dated 1937, the ribbon applied with a gilt heraldic leopard device. Suspended below is a large, fully enamelled sterling silver shield bearing the quartered arms of the Institution, decorated in blue, red, white and gilt, above the motto scroll KODES LA ADONAI (“Holiness to the Lord”).
The reverse struck with full English hallmarks for London, 925 sterling silver, date letter, and maker’s mark, retaining its original brooch fitting.
Condition: Very fine; minor age toning to gilded surfaces, enamel vibrant and intact, ribbon gently worn from age but structurally sound.
A high-quality example of the R.M.B.I. jewel awarded for service and charitable contribution within the United Grand Lodge of England.
