The style of the obverse is reminiscent of the portraits created by the Udine-based forger Luigi Cigoi; however, the publication dedicated to him (L. Brunetti, "Opus Monetale Cigoi", Bologna 1966) includes only Roman and medieval coins, with no mention of Greek ones.
