MEDIEVAL BRONZE DECORATIVE MOUNT WITH FLORAL MOTIF.
Medieval period, ca. 12th – 14th century AD.
Thin cast bronze decorative mount of semi-circular form with outward curving terminals. The front is engraved with a central five-petaled flower framed by symmetrical vegetal scrolls. The decoration is incised with fine linear detailing. Two perforations (one at the top and one at the bottom) were used for attachment to a leather strap, belt, pouch, or wooden object. The floral design and overall composition are characteristic of medieval European decorative metalwork rather than Roman production. Complete, with stable green patina and minor surface wear.
