Sicily. Segesta. Circa 410-400 BC. Trias (converted from heavy hexas) (Bronze, 20.68 mm, 7.92 g). Head of nymph Aigeste left, hair tied up into a chignon back of the neck with broad diadem; border of dots. Rev. Hound standing right on exergue line; four punched circles around (mark of value); all within a shallow circular incuse. Hurter -. Cf. Bérend Group B, pl. VII, 10 = Calciati CNS I, 294, 6 (hexas). Buceti 63 (same dies). HGC 2, 1181 (same reverse die). Light green patina. Slightly smoothed on the obverse. Good Very Fine. Extremely Rare Variant, known in very few specimens.
