ROMAN SILVER BELT BUCKLE
Roman Empire, 2nd–4th century AD.

Silver belt buckle comprising a rectangular frame with a movable pin, attached to an oblong rectangular plate secured by two integral rivets for fixing to a leather strap. The robust construction and form are consistent with buckles used on Roman military belts (cingula).

The surface shows light wear and minor irregularities consistent with age.
