From the pen of G.M.S.: The Egyptian conquest and colonization of the important neighboring island of Cyprus and the eastern Phoenician coasts of the Mediterranean gave rise to a series of local coins to which this bronze belongs—small in size, of uncertain minting, but of excellent style and splendid preservation. The obverse here depicts the portrait of Herakles with the lion's skin, while the reverse features the Ptolemaic eagle, both images bathed in a brilliant original brown patina.
