Ex Naville Numismatics Ltd., Auction 43, 23.09.2018, lot 261. We are dealing with a very well-preserved drachm, of absolute rarity and like the previous one in the collection, also from the famous collection of Giovanni Dattari, and of primary historical-artistic importance for the image on the reverse, the work of a late Hellenistic master engraver, and representing Hermes nude with the features and posture directly recalling the original Hellenistic statuary of Praxiteles, much appreciated and repeated by sculptors in the Roman world. Compare the Hermes of this coin with the statue of the Hermes of Belvedere kept in Vatican Museums.
