The exquisite, physiognomic and high relief plastic obverse bust of Hadrian finds a fitting counterpart on the reverse in the elegant classical figure of Isis Pelagia, sailing the Mediterranean Sea toward the lighthouse and harbour of Alexandria. She is carried forward by the force of a fully unfurled sail, careful angled and held to ensure forward motion toward her destination. An ideal coin for its condition of centring, preservation and patina.
