Very Fine/Good Very Fine. Ex Naville Numismatics Ltd., Auction 71, 13.02.2022, lot 213. An interesting Hadrianic diobol for the reverse image of Harpokrates in official iconography, depicted alone as a naked child in a pose reminiscent of the Praxitelean statuary, which likely inspired this representation. Harpokrates is the youthful Horus, born from the mystical union of Isis and Osiris and venerated in Egypt since the earliest Pharaonic times.
