Ex Naville numismatics Ltd., Auction 54, 15.12.2019, lot 302. A tetradrachm issued by the recently widowed Antoninus Pius, as can be deduced from the obverse with its severe and composed bust, to commemorate his consort Faustina I, who died in October AD 140 and immediately deified, as is confirmed by the legend on the reverse where the deceased empress appears ritually pouring incense into the hearth above an altar. It is the moving gesture of a great ruler and the coin's reverse has been appropriately illustrated in the catalogue of Dattari collection, from which it comes.
