Ex Kölner Münzkabinett, Auction 115, 29.10.2021, lot 251. On the obverse of this delightful obol appears the very stylish nude bust of Antoninus Pius, making it a specimen of considerable rarity, while on the reverse we find the ritual canopus of Osiris intended for liturgical processions. The coin was struck in the fateful ‘Sothiac year’ corresponding to the second of Antoninus Pius' reign (LB = year 2 = 138- 139 AD).
