*AN ETRUSCAN LEAD VOTIVE FIGURE.
Ca. 5th-4th century BCE
H. 10,5 cm
Provenance
Old private collection, Switzerland, between 1980s-1990s
This votive miniature figure depicts a newborn baby in a swaddling. The chest adorned with a neckace and a bulla (?). Standing on its base. Recent studies associate these ex-votos with the cult of the mother goddess Matuta, whose oldest known temple was located in the Forum Boarium in Rome and was destroyed in 506 BCE.
