AN EGYPTIAN PAIR OF GOLD RIBBED HOOP EARRINGS. In each pair, the central tubes are slightly longer at one end, designed to be inserted through the pierced earlobe. Earrings of this style, produced in various sizes, were particularly popular during the 18th Dynasty. Datable examples indicate that their popularity peaked from the reign of Hatshepsut (1479–1458 BCE) through to that of Amenhotep II (1426–1400 BCE).
