East Lancashire Masonic Benevolent Institution Incorporated jewel, gilt and enamel, suspended from its original pale blue ribbed silk ribbon, fitted with an ornate gilt suspension scroll and retaining its original pin fastening.
The obverse with a circular gilt medallion with blue enamel border inscribed “EAST LANCASHIRE MASONIC BENEVOLENT INSTITUTION INCORPORATED”, enclosing a stork standing on a pedestal before radiating sunbursts in high relief, the lower scroll bearing the motto “PATRIAE FIDELIS AMICISQUE”, executed in gilt and enamel.
The reverse plain gilt, stamped “KENNINGSON LONDON”, with central fixing point visible, mounted on a gilt backing plate with original pin.
A well-made late 19th / early 20th century Masonic benevolent jewel, retaining strong enamel colour and its original ribbon and suspension, and displaying fine detail throughout.
Condition: Very good, with light surface wear and patina consistent with age; enamels intact; ribbon clean and well preserved.
