A handsome interwar Royal Masonic Institution for Girls (RMIG) Steward Jewel dated 1920, executed in hallmarked silver with crisp white and blue enamel, suspended from its original cream moiré ribbon. The design is a classic RMIG form, notable for its balanced proportions and strong enamel contrast.
The upper bar is an ornate laurel-and-crossed emblem mount with a blue enamel panel inscribed STEWARD. Suspended beneath is the enamelled lozenge-form badge with white enamel scrollwork reading ROYAL MASONIC INSTN GIRLS 1920, framing a central heraldic shield in coloured enamels. Below the shield runs a blue enamel motto scroll (Latin inscription beginning “NIL ACTUM SI …”, as struck).
Reverse: The reverse retains the original long pin fitting, with the SPENCER maker’s stamp to the suspension bar and hallmarks present to the mount and/or badge (as visible in the photo). The reverse construction plate is intact.
Condition: Very good. Ribbon with light age wear and minor creasing; enamel bright with small high-point wear; silver with light toning and handling marks; fittings secure; hallmarks and maker’s stamp visible. Box slightly used, with expected age wear.
