Royal Masonic Benevolent Institution (R.M.B.I.) North Wales Steward’s Jewel, Sterling Silver and Enamel, 1928 (39.53 mm, 26.52 g).
A finely crafted R.M.B.I. Steward’s Jewel for the 1928 Festival, comprising a crimson ribbed ribbon with gilt metal bar enamelled STEWARD and dated 1928, to which is attached a circular blue enamel device inscribed NORTH WALES, centred by the red Welsh dragon.
Suspended below, a large sterling silver jewel in the form of a spread eagle supporting a richly enamelled heraldic shield in multiple colours, flanked by the initials R M B I and with a lower ribbon bearing the Welsh motto.
The reverse struck with full London silver hallmarks and the maker’s mark of G. KENNING & SON, LONDON, with original pin and ring fittings.
Condition: Very fine; some wear to ribbon consistent with age, enamels vivid and intact, silver with attractive light toning. A handsome and substantial festival jewel.
