Royal Antediluvian Order of Buffaloes (R.A.O.B.) Jewel with Ribbon (50.04 x 33.74 mm, 39.92 g). Royal Antediluvian Order of Buffaloes jewel, gilt metal, comprising a circular medallion surmounted by a crown, suspended from a long striped ribbon in shades of blue, red and pale grey, accompanied by associated gilt fittings. The obverse centred with a shield bearing the letters R.A.O.B., encircled by a laurel wreath and the motto “Justice, Truth, Philanthropy”, beneath a crowned suspension, the reverse plain. The jewel retains its original long ceremonial ribbon, woven in horizontal bands and fitted with gilt metal mounts. A well-preserved example of a Buffaloes ceremonial jewel, complete with its original ribbon and fittings, representing fraternal regalia associated with lodge or degree service. Condition: Very good, with light wear to the gilt surfaces and ribbon consistent with age and use. Date: Circa mid-20th century.
