A distinguished and impressive Royal Antediluvian Order of Buffaloes (R.A.O.B.) Grand Council jewel, crafted in sterling silver with a rich gilt finish and enamel highlights. This example was awarded to Bro. R. S. Bills in 1942, marking dedicated service within the Order.
Suspended from a blue-and-tan ribbon, the upper bar is engraved “PRIDE OF DULWICH LODGE”, signifying the specific lodge to which the recipient belonged. The ribbon bears embroidered gold motifs including:
RAOB
GRAND COUNCIL
Accompanied by the six-pointed Star emblem.
The gilt medallion features a crowned cartouche with a finely modelled buffalo head, symbolic of strength, loyalty, and service within the Order. A blue enamel scroll bearing R.A.O.B. sits proudly above the crown.
The reverse is engraved:
“Presented to Bro. R. S. Bills for Services Rendered, 1942”
Below which appear full sterling silver hallmarks and the maker’s name L. Simpson & Co., London.
Condition: Very Fine. Gilt finish clean and bright; enamel crisp; ribbon with only minor age toning; reverse beautifully engraved with fully legible hallmarks. A strong, high-grade Grand Council jewel with documented provenance.
