Royal Antediluvian Order of Buffaloes First Degree Jewel (40.92 x 50.76 mm, 29.49 g).
Royal Antediluvian Order of Buffaloes (R.A.O.B.) First Degree jewel, gilt and enamel, suspended from its original red ribbed silk ribbon with blue borders, fitted with a gilt suspension bar with horned terminals, retaining its original pin fastening.
The obverse with a circular gilt and blue enamel medallion surmounted by a crown, the border inscribed “FIRST DEGREE” and “R.A.O.B.”, enclosing the standing buffalo emblem in high relief, surrounded by ornate gilt scrollwork.
The reverse plain gilt, engraved “Presented to Bro. B. Gage, 30th Oct. 1972”, with maker’s and quality marks at the base, the ribbon mounted on a gilt backing plate.
A well-preserved late 20th century Buffaloes jewel, clearly attributed and dated, retaining its original ribbon and suspension, and displaying strong colour contrast between enamel and ribbon.
Condition: Very good, with light surface wear and patina consistent with age; enamels intact; ribbon clean and well preserved.
