Sicily. Segesta. Circa 410-400 BC. Onkia (Bronze, 13.68 mm, 2.18 g). EΓEΣ[TAION], Head of nymph Aigeste right, hair tied in sphendone; behind, ivy leaf; border of dots. Rev. Hound standing right, devouring stag head; above, amulet (mark of value); all within shallow circular incuse. Hurter pl. 29, 16 = Buceti 83 = HGC 2, 1193 (same dies). Bérend Group C, series II, pl. IX, 42 (same dies). Calciati CNS I, 300, 38 (same dies). Virzì 1357-1358 (same dies). Wonderful olive-green patina with a few touches of brown. Outstanding example, struck from masterfully engraved dies and probably one of the best to appear on sale in recent decades. Extremely Fine. Very Rare.
