Sicily. Panormos (as Ziz). Siculo-Punic Coinage, circa 400-380 BC. Didrachm (Silver, 20.75 mm, 8.37 g). 'SYS' (in Punic), Free horse prancing right on dotted exergue line; border of dots. Rev. Youthful male head right; around, three dolphins; all within shallow circular incuse. Jenkins, SNR 50 (1971), pl. 6, 12g (O1/R1) = BMC Sicily 248, 20 (this coin). Viola CNP 115 (same dies). SNG ANS 537 (same dies). SNG Lloyd 1589 (same dies). Jameson 693 (same dies). McClean 2489 (same obverse die). Buceti 24 = HGC 2, 1033 (same obverse die). This interesting didrachm is minted in an excellent Greek style. Beautiful old cabinet toning with some deposits. Good Very Fine. Very Rare.
